HVAC Continues to Implement Water Conservation Technology

Did you know that the HVAC Department is currently in the process of installing 55 dual flush handles in the restrooms around campus? If you didn't, now you do! The increased efficiency of these retrofits will result in a 54%-68% reduction in water consumption (for the toilets that have been retrofitted)

How They Work
The retrofitted toilets have a dual-flush feature which can save up to 2.4 gallons of water per flush. Depending on the need, you can either tilt the handle UP for a reduced flush (1.1 gpf), or you can tilt the handle DOWN for a full flush (1.6 gpf). There are signs within the bathroom area which reinforce the proper operation of the product.

You can check out these great water saving gadgets in Cheray, Ross/Tarrant, Alliot and Durick Library (and we'll have them in more buidings as time goes on).

Happy Water Saving!
